Again the maelstrom that surrounds a competition hand-in erupted as members vied to write their masterpiece titles on the entry form, and hurl their memory sticks into the competition pot.

As that excitement subsided Paul took the members through the Kingswood Salver competition due in November. This is a high-level competition, with high standards, open to over 100 photographic clubs. Penryn hasn’t previously entered this so the discussion covered requirements and if we should enter. The consensus is we should so the work starts to take some images and hammer them into shape.

After the tea and chat break, Paul took members through our upgraded website. Formal and friendly competition entries, and results spanning several years are available, along with knowledge articles, video how-to’s, future events and Paul offered hints on how to get the maximum benefit from the site.

Next week one of our members, Mike Halsey, is leading a discussion on “Studio photography... is it cheating?” Accompanied by a slew of photographs guaranteeing a lively interactive evening.

You are welcome to join us (Thursdays, 19:30, The Penryn Athletic Football Club). You can contact us by email at, or
