Penryn Camera Club enjoyed a lucky dip competition this week. We each received a different subject and a month to take the image. On the evening we each get a score sheet and members try to stay objective and mark their decisions (1 to 5) according to technical merit, how closely the photo matched the brief, and avoiding the personal choice of the voter. This gives our members some judging ideas which they can apply to their images before submitting them to future competitions. Our competition secretary Mandy has the fun task of tallying around 600 scores while we enjoy tea and cakes and this week mince pies!

Next week we have an inspirational talk on “A Decisive Moment” the subject of an upcoming formal competition the club hopes members will enter. There will be a selection of topics for a future lucky dip competition.
