PCC News 2022 Awards Celebration “What a lovely evening”

BEHIND THE SCENES I’ve been thinking about all the hard work that went into our Awards Presentation Evening.

  • Mandy, who sorted out the scores and who won which of the many trophies

  • Victor for trying to sort out 127 certificates and having them printed along with the new season’s programme

  • Karen for liaising with the Golf Club with our menu selections and working on the Club Programme, sorting out our many evenings at the club as well as our Summer Programme and had it ready and printed for the dinner.

  • Chris for sorting out the payment to the Golf Club and Julia and I purchasing the raffle prizes - just about everything was prepared for the evening.

SATURDAY 25th.

Mandy and I arrived at the Golf Club at 4-15pm, to try and have everything ready before everyone arrived. Needless to say, the sorting out of the Trophies and Certificates took much longer than we had hoped. The amount of Raffle prizes increased as Members arrived with their generous donations to enhance the number of prizes, thank you all so much.

THE MEAL.

At 6-00pm, we all took our seats at the 3 long tables set out for us all, the place names displaying where we were sitting along with the Programme for the Members of the Club. The 3 course meal was all served on time and the service from the staff was brilliant, they were all so helpful and obliging, added to this was the wonderful view of the bay and St Anthony Lighthouse, and a bit later on, a lovely rainbow appeared, which sent the keen photographers in a frenzy, capturing it on camera. Everyone said the meal was fantastic and wanted to come again to this venue. (Karen, being on the button as usual, has arranged our “Xmas do “on December 17th).

THE PRESENTATIONS.

The meal over, it was time to start the Presentations of awards and Mandy decided the certificates would start off the proceedings. The outcome being, most Members were in receipt of them and a few Members had quite a bundle of them. The Trophies were presented to the Members by our Club President, Geoffrey assisted by Mandy and our Club Photographer Derek, who obliged, making sure there was a good photo record of all the recipients.

It was really rewarding to see so many of our new members obtaining certificates and trophies and the excitement they showed in receiving them. Between Liz and Derek, I think Asda will sell out of Silvo!! Liz winning the Denis Watson Trophy for the most points over the season for her excellent images with Derek coming a very close second. Liz, also won the Image of the Year Trophy, and a few others too. Ash won the Junior Cup, so well done Ash. Well done to everyone on your success and look forward to seeing what you produce next season.

The raffle prizes were drawn next and I think there must have been 20 prizes, (I was too busy to count them all, so this is a rough estimate).

A bouquet of flowers was presented to Geoffrey for his wife Agnes, who unfortunately, was unable to make the dinner and a Box of Chocolates was given to Victor for his wife Bernie, who also, due to work commitments, couldn’t make the dinner.

CONCLUSION. The whole evening was filled with chatter, laughter and fun, making it a truly, lovely, enjoyable evening. I just wonder..............., how many other clubs have this super atmosphere which includes Club Nights as well as our Social Events? This is only made possible by the fantastic Members we have, who not only enjoy their photography, but all get on so well together making everyone feel welcome and comfortable in each others’ company ------- very few I would say, we are just so lucky. By all working together, helping each other, from the Committee Members to the Club Members, we will continue to make our Club great.
