Editor - Derek Godridge and the team:

PCC News this week from Karen Burton:

I can honestly say Helen has been my favourite guest speaker this year. I felt so inspired by her creativity and thinking "out of the box" ideas. She is everything I want to be in a photographer. Her enthusiasm and energy and fun approach are key elements I think and I wish I could bottle some of her creativity!

I admire Helen's theatrical and dramatic approach to her compositions and I loved her honesty, and how she shared her mistakes when things went wrong. I think it is valuable to understand this as new photographers, that mistakes will be made as it is all part of the learning curve. We all make mistakes and it is really good to see even top photographers like Helen can look back at their work and admit they overdid the Photoshop or it was not a good composition. I find that so encouraging to keep on trying new things.

I would love to create some shoots like her so if anyone is willing to join me? Maybe in the Summer holidays, I can organise some shoots! I think we need to get our heads together and raid the charity shops for costumes! I am so excited to create some magic in my images. PhotoshopElements is what I use to edit my photos. It was a one-off price of £74 it doesn't do everything Photoshop does, but it is enough for me. Along with Jane and Liz on our level 2 photography course, I am learning to create layers and masks. It is becoming less daunting but still not something I can do automatically yet - it takes time and practice.

I am just loving my photographic journey and want to say to the new members it does take time but is so worth being patient and eventually I hope my images improve. Thank you all for your support as every bit of help and advice is appreciated. I value our great club and feel very proud to be part of it. Happy snapping all!
