PCC News

Cornwall Photographic Alliance AGM

Just to advise that both Paul and myself attended the above last Wednesday on behalf of our club.

I officially introduced Paul to the meeting as the second of our reps as this has to be done in accordance with the CPA Constitution due to all reps being official CPA committee members.

If was a very productive meeting with most member clubs sending a representative or two and apart from the usual Minutes and matters arising, the main topics were as follows.

  1. Chris Robins is the webmaster and he asked all club members to take a look at the amended CPA Website and make and observations to him via the reps.

  2. The wildlife and nature competition has been really successful although there is still some confusion around the differences between the two categories. The rules are quite clear but I suggested that they be amended to include category examples to assist contributors. The judges have been selected from qualified Nature photographers who are from out of county and have been booked for the 8th November at the Burrell Theatre Truro.

  3. The Charles Hosken competition planning is also underway with experienced judges being approached. There will be a new certificate awarded for the entrant with the overall best aggregate score from all images entered. Again the venue will be the Burrell Theatre with a date set for 15th February.

  4. The wildlife and nature competition has been really successful although there is still some confusion around the differences between the two categories. The rules are quite clear but I suggested that examples be included to assist contributors.

  5. The CPA Annual Club competition planning is also underway with thoughts around improving the display of club prints being looked at. Event date is 17th March at the Burrell Theatre.

  6. There then followed a couple of officer’s reports which were well received especially the Treasurer’s report of a small profit to the overall bank balance. It was also good to know that club affiliation fees will remain the same as last year.

  7. The election of officers was then held and then future events were discussed. This will probably be illustrated talks from top rated photographers and held on a Friday evening. It was felt that the change of day of the week might help to boost attendance, which recently has been poor for these events.

New Project Meeting

It has been decided to give members the opportunity to join in with a new project for the club which will involve members getting out and about with their cameras over the course of the coming year. It is intended to hold an open meeting for interested members NEXT THURSDAY 11th July at 7pm at our Penryn FC Clubhouse in the covered area at the rear of of the pavilion on the football pitch side. If the weather is good we may be able to make a start so bring your cameras.
