PCC News – Penryn Fair Day 24th August – Paul Cooper

The Penryn Camera Club exhibition at the Penryn Fair on Saturday was the best ever with around 300 folk coming to view. Over 250 voted for their favourite image selected from last year's competition winners and our photographers' own favourites.

The winning ticket pulled out from the raffle was for Mark Quilter’s delightful print entitled “Snowy Morning”. The print was delivered on Saturday evening to the highly delighted Margaret who was visiting from Taunton along with her daughter Gail from Penryn.

Our “Penryn Project” corner (not part of the above) was extremely popular. The club members have been taking pictures of things in Penryn that catch their eye. Folk lingered and chatted on our images with many favourable comments.

The club is still very proud of our Kingswood Salver success last year and we had a small corner showing the five images used and what the competition is all about.

Derek Godridge LRPS AFIAP ran his usual photo shoot of families, pets and costumes and more than 20 people bravely offered themselves up for scrutiny and everyone has had a digital copy sent to them. There was a lot of fun and much laughter from that corner!

The club wishes to wholeheartedly thank everyone who assisted in bringing our exhibition to fruition, for setting up the stands, prints, digital displays and projects. Also a big thank you to those members who invigilated throughout the day and made our visitors welcome and hungry!

Also a big thank you

Finally, this year PCC is supporting the Falmouth fire service, Three Peak Challenge. The club contributed £25 and club members and the public contributed another £85 bringing the days total to £110. 100% of that has been passed to the firefighters.

Penryn Camera Club Summertime Series Competition – John Yarrow

Hi, the final competition of the Summertime Series, 'Forms in Nature' closes at midnight on

Saturday 31st August.

35 Penryn Camera Club members are registered with PhotoEntry but, over the Summertime

Series so far, only 22 members have submitted an image. If you haven't already done so

then please enter an image this week. The whole purpose of the Summertime Series is to

get as many members as possible comfortable with using the new system.

I am available to help anyone finding it difficult - email, text, phone or even a home visit -

whatever is best for you. Let's all be PhotoEntry savvy before we meet in September.

Kind regardsJohn @ john.yarrow032@btinternet.com or T: 01872 521182 or M: 07832 485717

We have been asked by the local RBL if any of our members would be willing to help out with selling Poppies this year at Asda. It usually is a 2 hour slot and you are able to sit down by the door at Asda. It can be a bit chilly so you might want to wrap up.

You do not need to “sell” poppies, as it is not allowed to rattle the bucket, like the old days! People just come to the table and make their purchase with cash or there is a card reader which is easy to use. It is fantastic how generous people are.

Please let me know if you think you may be able to help RBL out this year. Kburton281@googlemail.com
