Newsletter week 37

Your PCC Committee Zoom Meeting on Monday discussed various items as follows:

  • It was announced only a couple of days ago that the Covid restrictions may be lifted and now we know a little more we are planning a REAL live PCC Meeting on 3rd December. Usual time 7.30pm with a show from Victor!

  • As you may recall, we are looking to get our Ken Farnell series back up and hand-in for KF1 is going to be 7th January2021. More details will follow shortly regarding the complete programme.

  • Also as mentioned previously please start thinking about the 2021 Charles Hosken competition as entries open on Jan 21st and the results show will be a virtual event via Zoom on or around the 20th March 2021. However, as always the images are up to any 4 of YOUR choice sized as per usual. Final details not yet uploaded but will keep you posted.

  • Paul Cooper and myself have been working on our website trialling different options and we have come up with an added “Portfolios” area where you can post up your profile and add up to 12 images. They need to be sized at 1600 or 1200 pixels at 72dpi and Paul will help with sizing and uploading at If you wish to take advantage of this new feature have a look at Paul’s entry (or mine) here:

  • Your team are preparing images to enter this year’s WCPF DPIC competition which consists of 16 images by various photographers – max 4 per photographer. We will be going over previous year’s images which have done well and submitting our selection on your behalf. NB all of this year’s Lockdown series will be considered.

  • Finally there is an interesting Zoom talk coming up details here: Guest Tickets on Sale - Join us at Dorchester Camera Club for "The Power of Personal Projects" with guest speaker Glyn Dewis, live and online via Zoom, Monday 30 November. Guest Tickets £3. Sales close at 645pm, Monday 30 November - visitors and prospective members welcome. SAFE link here:

Have you seen our website recently? It would be really helpful for you to have a quick browse andfeedback (to Paul) of things you don’t like or feel are missing. E.g. As mentioned why not have a look at the Portfolios section and comment back to me

Sneaky tip: If you are on our website and want to look at our Facebook page click anywhere in the top logo of the Penryn Town Hall. (Really used to link the sites in Google’s eyes, but a helpful shortcut for us as well).

Did you know

At the bottom of each article on our blog there are links to share it easily. If there is something of interest to a friend, family member or potential new member here’s what to do................

Click the F to share on YOUR Facebook page. You can add a comment before it goes live.

Click the bird to tweet the article on your twitter account.

“in" is for the few of us that might have a LinkedIn account and the chain provides a simple link you can use in emails, WhatsApp etc.

Do you have any pictures of the group inside the Space or out and about?

If yes (even if no!) please consider giving our club a review on Google, adding your image. It’s really easy. Go here and a review form should pop up. Somewhere in your review please use the word “Penryn” and either "Camera club" or "Photography club” Why? Positive reviews enhance Google view of our site, ranking it higher so searches for “cameraclub near me” will find us. If the form does not work send your review to me (Paul) and I can add it for you, but it’s better for reviews to be independent of me if possible.
