Mike Coe
My father was a keen photographer, but I did not catch the bug from him. Rather, at the age of 25, myself, wife and a six week old, relocated to Kenya, where I worked for 5 years. You cannot live in such a place without a big wish to capture the experiences on camera.
Returning home, I joined Chester Photographic. When processing became mainly Cibachrome, around 1980, my keenness to process my images waned until digital arrived in about 2000. For two years I was the President and principal organiser of the Chester Club.
I was an enthusiastic photographer of Cycle races, and being near the Manchester velodrome enabled me to follow the years when the UK became dominant in the World.
Otherwise, my current interests are rather eclectic. I like photographing people, informally, doing whatever they do. And just observing compositions that catch my imagination. My ambitions have matured, so I take images for my own enjoyment, rather than seeking to be the ‘best’.
