Penryn Camera Club - Welcome Pack 1

The members of Penryn Camera Club are pleased to welcome you to our friendly club and hope that you might wish to become a member yourself. We are very happy to host you for 3 meetings to enable you to decide if you wish to join us.

A Brief History:

The club was founded in 1980 at the Temperance Hall in Penryn, by local photographers with a keen interest in cameras and photography and after several moves over the years we are now firmly established in Penryn AC Football Club’s clubhouse. It has excellent free parking and a large area for holding our meetings and displaying prints.

Affiliations: We have several affiliations through our membership of Cornwall Photographic Alliance to the Western Counties Photographic Federation (WCPF) and Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB). As such we have to have a published Constitution and a Committee voted in by the members.

Meetings: Once a week on a Thursday at Penryn AC Football Club, Kernick Rd., Penryn 7.30pm until 10pm during the season which runs from September to April.

Social: During our ‘closed’ season we also organise a summer programme of meet-ups and social days out.

Activities: Our meetings comprise an eclectic mix of competitions, speakers, practical and fun activities, organised in accord with the members’ wishes, to encourage us to both enjoy and be creative in our photography.

Member Skill-sets: We have many members who act as mentors to the less experienced or “improver” members and they are always willing to give their time to assist you in furthering your knowledge, should you wish to do so.

Media Footprint: We have a thriving online Internet footprint with our website at www.penryncameraclub.co.uk and two FaceBook pages for both Member’s-Only https://www.facebook.com/groups/penryncameraclub along with our Community FB page at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61551610953215

Newsletter: To help members keep up to date with proceedings, we publish our weekly newsletter which is emailed to members and additionally maintain a regular presence with submissions to the local Penryn Newspapers.

Exhibitions: We hold annual exhibitions of members’ work which coincides with Penryn Fair Day over the August bank holiday and at which members may select prints to be displayed.

Competitions: Once you have joined you may wish to enter the various “set” subject and “Open” competitions which are held throughout the season. These consist of combinations of Prints, Digitally Projected Images (DPIs) and Off Camera (OC) projected images in both Colour and Black and White. We also have an Annual Awards’ Ceremony which usually takes the form of a luncheon and presentation.

We do hope you decide to join us and we are sure that our members can provide friendly advice and support for you to improve your photography!
