PCC News –

  • Last night’s talk by local photojournalist Colin Higgs was a really interesting look at Cornish Life over the last 20 years or so. It included great photos of quite humble events such as Agricultural Shows and demos, but also focused on the people such as “The Veg Men”, Cornish miners and Flora Day characters. Additionally, Colin surprised us with some very stunning Cornish landscape scenes taken at the Lizard, Lands End, St Agnes and around the county.

  • Just reminding members that our new website is up and running so in order to move us up the “search” rankings Paul asked all of us to take a look at it and stay for at least 5 minutes at different times of day over the next week. Whilst there you might want to think about getting your own Portfolio and member photo within the “Portfolio” section (7th Tab from the left). Just send your images to Paul at... andrewpaulcooper@hotmail.com Here’s our safe Website Link https://www.penryncameraclub.co.uk/

  • You may remember me asking for YOUR photo stories and as I have been up and down the West County over the last couple of weeks I thought I would give an example below: On my way back from Devizes after visiting my 94-year-old Mum I thought I would pop into the amazing National Trust property at Stourhead in order to photograph the wonderful Autumn colours.

  • It was quite a contrasty day and so using the raw file I lifted the deep shadows using Photoshop Elements (as demonstrated last week) and then saturated some of the trees.

  • I had a go at framing the famous Greek Temple with a bit of judicious cropping.

  • I haven’t been a big exponent of the Square Crop but I am trying it a little more now. Feedback is always welcome!

  • Finally, I met this lovely family from Amesbury and after taking their portrait on mum’s iPhone (other phones are available!) I asked if I could make a portrait for me and they were very happy to. Just love the braids! So the lesson with this one is that it’s always good to ask, they can only say No !
