PCC News from Paul Cooper:

Members were exceptionally lucky to receive a talk by multi-award-winning photographer Barbara Jenkins. Barbara started by showing the group how even bad photographs can create good backgrounds. Using simple editing in Photoshop we were shown different techniques to make wonderful backdrops.  The need to build a folder of different colours and content was well explained before Barbara launched into her main presentation.

Barbara launched into her main presentation.

Barbara showed us the before, during and after images explaining how and why she edited certain aspects.  Layering, diffusion, subtle masking and opacity were all explained in a way that was easy to understand and see.

She was not shy about spreading her knowledge and even included some images she liked that weren’t well-judged. Some members of the audience felt relieved that even vastly experienced photographers could not guess a judge’s reaction to their work.

Next week we look forward to Mandy’s quiz night and the massive associated prizes. A Mars bar could be at stake! There is sure to be laughter, as we are not all great at quizzing.

PhotoEntry Trial nearing its end

John Yarrow ably demonstrated a competition management system that relieves a LOT of work from the competition secretary.  If you were not there, PLEASE try uploading an image during the next two-week free trial to see if you find it easy, and be ready to give some feedback on your experience. To authorise you john.yarrow032@btinternet.com needs your name, your PCC Membership number and your email address. PLEASE help us evaluate this process.

Website Corner

Our website menu “External” shows all the external links (to great pages) but it can be overwhelming. Click the downward arrow in the “Select Category” box and choose a subject, perhaps; Penryn Camera Club, to narrow choices.

Only select “Xtremely random’ if you are a bit wacky!!  Feel free to email Paul with more links.
