Newsletter #97 Friday 28th January

Firstly thanks everyone who sent their Charles Hosken images to me on time. You’ll be pleased to know that they are now in the safe hands of Bill Hall who will be beavering away to get them off to the judges.

Hopefully you have all paid your top-up member fees now, but those of you who may have not done so yet please remember that only fully paid up members can enter our competitions, so if you need to get that £15 to Chris, please do so ASAP.

Apologies on behalf of the WCPF for short notice but until Sunday 13th February you may now enter for FREE the prestigious Knightshayes Trophy with up to 2 digital images - NB Not Prints this year. See below WCPF news for entry details.

Meetings

  1. Last night was a super illustrated talk by the aforementioned Bill Hall DPAGB EFIAP FBPE who showed us some fantastic nature and wildlife images that he has taken over the last few years. He has virtually covered the country to shoot the various wildlife of Britain and the results speak for themselves. I think I can honestly say I cannot remember so many “Oohs” and “Ahhs” for a long time, which goes to show how spectacular they were.

Bill Hall DPAGB EFIAP FBPE

  1. Not content with showing us his fantastic photos though, Bill also gave us an insight into his clever and resourceful methods using wide shots to demonstrate the extensive use of various natural materials and set-ups in order to get those all important close up shots. Certainly a lot of food for thought for members to try their own hand maybe!

  2. I think we had a most enthralling evening and I’m sure we will be seeing other aspects of Bill’s work in the future, so thanks for that Bill and also Karen for arranging the talk.

  3. Next week Thursday 3rd February we have a “Member’s Critique” so please dig out up to 4 images which you might be a little unsure of for members to discuss and hopefully to make helpful suggestions.

  4. Thursday 10th March is the date for our KF2 Competition with Kevin Leah judging.
